The Everest Three High Passes Trek is one of the prominent and adventurous trekking trail situated in the Khumbu(Everest) Region.The main hi­­ghlights of this trek includes the  traversing of three highest passes which are named as the Renjo-La pass(5,446m),  Cho-La Pass(5,420m) and Kongma-La Pass(5,535m). Along with these passes it also includes the major valleys of the Everest region such as Chhukung valley, Thame Valley and so on.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300 m)

A representative of Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will pick you from the airport after your arrival and transfer you to your respective hotel.

After checking in, you can relax and refresh. Later you can visit our office of GHHT in Thamel & wander around the area. In the evening, GHHT will be hosting a welcome dinner which serves you delicious Nepali cuisine.

Accommodation: A 3 Star Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Sightseeing Kathmandu and Trek Preparation

Today after breakfast - we will start our trip exploring the 4 main heritage sites of Kathmandu listed in UNESCO world heritage site. We will first begin with pre-historic palace - the Durbar Square. After that, we will visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple. Next, we will visit the Swayambhunath temple which is simply called as the monkey temple owing to large number of monkeys around the area. Lastly, we will visit the most popular tourist center - the Boudhanath stupa - the largest stupa in the world. Later we will visit the office of GHHT office for trip discussion & also be introducing you to the trek leader and guide including other trekkers joining you if any.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2651 m) 40 minutes flight, 3-4 Hrs of Trek

As all of the trekking to the Everest region commences from Lukla, we will be taking a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu capturing some breathtaking views of the Himalayas including mighty Everest. Reaching Lukla, we will start trekking towards Phakding and after one hour or so with a gradual descend - we will reach Cheplung village. Here we will start getting the glimpses of Mount Khumbila - one of the sacred peaks which never has been summited. We will continue our trek from Cheplung and descend down to Phakding. We will spend our night in Phakding.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3438 m) : 11 km, 5-6 Hrs of Trek

Today our trekking trails are mostly uphill and downhill and even we will be crossing the Dudh Koshi River through a suspension bridge. On the way to Benkar village, we will be welcomed by the stunning views of Mount Thamserku. After crossing the bridges several times - we will enter the Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo where our trekking permits will be checked. Before reaching Namche Bazaar, we continue our trek and pass via Jorsale village. From Namche, we will get astonishing & breathtaking views of the Himalaya such as Everest, Tawache, Lhotse and many more. We will spend our night at Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar - Rest and Acclimatization Day

Our 5th day is a total acclimatization. As health experts advise that before heading to the high elevation, one must properly adapt the altitude by staying active. So we will be doing a short hike like strolling around Namche Bazaar or hike to the Everest View Hotel to enjoy the close views of several peaks. We can also head to the Khumjung monastery (where Yeti scalp is kept) or tour at the Hillary school. If you can - we will also head to tourist visitor center close to the headquarter of Sagarmatha National park to learn varied flora and fauna of Everest region as well as observe the history of the first ascender to Everest. We will spend our night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860 m) 10 km, 5-6, Hrs of Trek

Today our trek will begin with easy trail towards Phunki Thanga and then we climb to Tengboche village - the abode of the largest monastery of the Everest region. The Tengboche monastery is situated around the Sagarmatha National Park and from here one get picturesque view of highest mountain Everest including with other peaks such as Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Thamserku. We will make an effort to reach the monastery at 3pm in the afternoon so that we get to witness Buddhists religious ceremony. We will spend our night in Tengboche.

Day 7: Tengboche towards Dingboche (4360 m) 9km, 5-6 Hrs of Trek

Today we will began our day with trekking downhill and then we will be passing via dense forests with thick rhododendron, conifers and birch trees. Continuing trekking with accompany of splendid Mountain View like Everest, Ama Dablam and Lhotse. After that we will drop down to Debuche and cross the Imja River which lead us to Pangboche. Trekking to the upper trails towards Pangboche we will get clear view of Himalayas and the Pangboche monastery. We will then continue our trek to Imja valley and Lobuche and from here we will ascend towards Dingboche. The Dingboche village is the most stunning village with windy trail with several chorten and prayer flags. We will spend our night in Dingboche.

Day 8: Dingboche: Acclimatization and rest

Dingboche is the perfect place for acclimatization where every climbers and trekkers stop for the acclimatization before heading to Mount Everest, Imja Tse and Ama Dablam. This village is the exquisite village with range of fields like barley, potato and buck wheat and it is bounded by stone wall for the protection of such grazing animals and strong winds. We can even hike towards Nagarjun hill to capture the stunning view of Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Tawache, Cholatse and many more. We will spend our night in Dingboche.

Day 9: Climb Chhukung Ri (5546m) 14km, 6-7 Hrs of Trek

Today our trek passes on the trail via stone wall fields and heads towards the Imja Khola valley and then we will enter glacier moraines with rocky high mountains. Continuing trekking towards Bibre and from here one will gets amazing view of Amphu Labtsa and Ama Dablam peaks. From here our trails is crisscross by icy streams and continuing walking for half an hour we will reach at Chhukhang and then we will have our lunch and continue our trek to Chhukhang Ri. We will ascend to Chhukhang Ri and from the top of Chukhang Ri we will get fascinating view of Amphu Labtcha and Ama Dablam Peaks. After that we will retrace down to Chukhang. We will spend our night at Chhukhung.

Day 10: Cross Kongma La pass & trek towards Lobuche (4940m) 10km, 6-7 Hrs of Trek

Today we will begin our trek early morning to arrive at the highest pass which is Kongma la pass. There are two trails where we can take a path of the north east of Chukhang above the Nuptse glacier or we can even take a trail back towards Bibre and trek on the path over Niyang khola. On the way to the pass we will come across Buddhists prayer flags. The last descend from the pass will be the most challenging part of our journey. After ascending the moraine our trails turn to north via Khumu glacier which leads us to Lobuche. We will spend our night at Lobuche. Note: trekking towards Kongma la pass is just kept for the optional like if you don’t want to undertake such challenging trail, we can directly head towards Lobuche from Chukhang.

Day 11: Towards GorakShep (5170m), visit EBC (5364m) 13km, 6-7 Hrs of Trek

Today we will trek on the trail alongside the moraine of Khumbu glacier, on the way we will get to observe north ridge of Everest including with Mahalangur, Khumbutse, Nuptse, Lingtren and other several peaks. After that we will ascend for awhile which leads us towards Thangma Riju and from here one can relish picturesque view of Himalayan landscapes. After that we will climb on the steep trail towards Changri glacier and then we will reach at Gorak Shep which is surrounded by spectacular Himalayas. We will take a rest for while enjoying the view of mountains and then we will continue our trek towards Everest Base camp before that we will be passing via rocky hill, streams and moraines. Reaching at Everest base camp we will admire the mind blowing view of Khumbutse, Pumori, Nuptse and the highest mountain Everest and after that we will retrace our trek back to Gorak Shep. We will spend our night at Gorak Shep. We can either head to kalapathar instead of heading it tomorrow as many adventurous trekkers says that the sunset view along with mountain view from Kalapathar is the most striking one.

Day 12: Towards KalaPatthar (5545m) and to Lobuche (4940m) 7km, 8-9 Hrs of Trek

Early morning we will head to Kalapathar to catch the extraordinary view of sunrise view reflecting on highest mountain Everest. Before that one must be prepared for such trekking towards kalapathar where we will be trekking to high altitude as well as cold temperature. Continuing trekking with accompany of several peaks like Khumbutse, Changtse, Nuptse, Lingtren and Everest. After a few hours climb we will reach at kalapathar. From Kalapathar one can enjoy close view of Everest including with other several peaks. After that we will descend down towards Lobuche. We will spend our night in Lobuche.

Day 13: Lobuche towards Dzongla (4830m) 6km, 3-4 Hrs of Trek

Today we will trek downhill along the Khumbu glacier where from here our path divide into two parts, we will be selecting the trail that is on right side where one can admire the view of Awi peak. On the way we will be passing via stupas and continuing trekking for while we will start to climb. While ascending we will get to observe Chola Tsho Lake close by. Further trekking we will be passing another lake which is smaller than the previous lake. After that we will be crossing the Chola Khola through a bridge and then arrives at Dzongla. We will spend our night in Dzongla.

Day 14: Towards Gokyo through Cho La Pass (5368m) 6km, 7-8 Hrs of Trek

Today we will be trekking to the high altitude where Cho La Lake starts to emerge. As we will be ascending the incline which is quite challenging, it is a steep trail but the huge boulders on the path make it more difficult. The last ascend will be bit tricky as the path curve round the crevasses. The surrounding peaks are astonishing to view where we will enjoy the view. Though the trek is lengthy where the trails leads us down towards Thangnak and the trail is not so tough. We will continue our trek for while and then we will arrive at the edge of Ngozumba glacier-the highest glacier of Nepal. When we arrive at the other side of glacier we will get to observe the 2nd Gokyo Lake and with shot hike we will arrive at the 3rd Gokyo lake and within a while trekking and at the edge of the lake Gokyo village is situated. We will spend our night at Gokyo village.

Day 15: Rest in Gokyo, Climb Gokyo Ri (5357m),tour 4th and 5th lakes, 3-4 Hrs of Trek

Today we will ascend to Gokyo Ri and admire the magnificent view of mountains. We will be also touring the Gokyo- the fourth lake which is approximately 3 kilometer from Gokyo village after that we will continue our trekking towards the fifth lake and from the Scoundrel viewpoint situated at edge of fifth lake is amazing to view. Even we will admire Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Nuptse, Everest, Gyachung Kang and massive Ngozumba glacier is splendid to view. After that we will retrace back to Gokyo. We will spend our night at Gokyo.

Day 16: Towards Marlung (4210m) through Renjo La Pass (5360m) 11km, 7-8 Hrs of Trek

Today early morning we will continue our trek as today is a long journey so, we will move on early morning. We will began our trekking alongside the Dudh Koshi Lake and continuing trekking for two hours and descend down to Renjo La pass and on the way we will get to view captivating view of Himalayas, range of Rolwaling and many more. From the top of the pass one will get to view the mighty spectacular Mount Everest. Continuing trekking from the pass through windy trails and then e will head down to stone stair case and from there we will head to south bank of Angladhumba Tscho Lake. While descending down through icy trail will be bit dangerous. On the way we will get to observe Relama Tscho and Renjo La Lake. After that we will be walking down to narrow valley which is blocked by huge boulders and head towards Lumde and then trek for an hour to reach at Marlung. We will spend our night at Marlung.

Day 17: Towards Namche Bazaar,15km, 5-6 Hrs of Trek

Today we will be descending down from Marlung towards Thame by following the traditional path which is used from centuries by Tibetan traders. After that we will be crossing the Bhote Koshi River and descends towards Taranga. Before reaching Thame we will be crossing two bridges. Thame is known for the well known monastery positioned on high hill. Before reaching Namche Bazaar we will be descending down gradually and pass several village and then arrives at Namche which is the main town of the Everest region. We will spend our night at Namche.

Day 18: Namche Bazaar towards Lukla, 19km, 6-7 Hrs of Trek

Today we will start our trek with gradual descend and continuing our trek by crossing numerous bridges above rapid flowing Dudh Koshi river. From here our trail becomes more natural and level. We will be trekking in wide plain via pine and rhododendron forests as well as enjoying the view of snowcapped peaks. We will be trekking via Sherpa village with prayer wall stones and prayer flags and within a while we will reach at Lukla and then you can relax and stretch up your sore legs. We will spend our night in Lukla.

Day 19: Lukla to Kathmandu, 40 minutes flight

The mountain flights usually fly in morning due to avoid such harsh unfavorable weather condition so early morning we will take a flight to Kathmandu. Reaching at the Kathmandu airport our guide will drop you at the hotel and you can relax or you can even do shopping to your loved ones as there are lots of souvenir shops in Thamel area where you can look around. In evening the GHHT- Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be hosting a farewell dinner to celebrate for successfully completing the trek. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final Departure

Our journey to Everest High pass trek comes to an end and one of our representatives from the GHHT- Ganesh Himal Hiking Team will be dropping you at the airport three hours earlier than your flight schedule.

Luxurious rooms from 5 Star hotels are also made avaiable on demand in the cities on additional cost but remote regionss dont have such facilities.
