Trip overview

The Mt Kailash View Motorbike Tour is not a luxury ride. It’s a real journey into one of Nepal’s most isolated corners, Humla and the upper Limi Valley, where the road ends and the mountains take over.

Over 12 days, you ride from Kathmandu through western Nepal, crossing deep river gorges, dusty hill roads, and high Himalayan tracks to reach Lapcha Syar, a remote viewpoint that offers clear Mt Kailash darshan from Nepal, without entering Tibet. On a good day, the sight is quiet, powerful, and deeply personal — no crowds, no checkpoints, just you and the mountain.

The route passes through villages rarely visited by outsiders, where life moves slowly and hospitality is genuine. You’ll eat simple, organic local food, meet Humli and Limi people, and experience the raw beauty of a remote motorbike tour in Humla. This journey is as much about the ride as it is about being far from everything familiar.

If you’re looking for an authentic Mt Kailash motorbike adventure from Nepal, this is as real as it gets.

By late afternoon, you arrive in Surkhet, the administrative gateway to Karnali and the last major town before entering far more remote terrain.

This day is less about adventure and more about transition—preparing you mentally and physically for the isolation ahead.

04 Day

Ride from Surkhet to Samnighat (178 km | 1,200 m | 6-7 hours)

The ride changes character today. Leaving Surkhet behind, the road becomes narrower and the surface rougher as you move deeper into remote western Nepal. The paved sections slowly disappear, turning into broken tracks and off-road stretches that require more focus and control while riding.

At Jiteghat the road splits toward the Kalikot–Jumla highway. From here we take the road dropping down to the Karnali Bridge at Jiteghat. After crossing the bridge, the off-road highway toward Bajura and Humla begins, and the ride becomes more demanding.

The route follows the Karnali river valley, passing small settlements where people still depend mostly on foot, mule, or motorcycle for travel. This is where the journey really starts to feel remote and wild. By late afternoon you reach Samnighat, a small and quiet riverside town that serves as an important stop before heading further toward Humla.

Ride Duration: 6–7 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Max Altitude: 1,200 m
05 Day

Ride from Samnighat to Sergeghat (130 km | 1,660 m | 5-6 hours)

Along the way you cross suspension bridges and pass through small river settlements where daily life still revolves around the Karnali. By afternoon you reach Pilichaur and stop for lunch. Here you can enjoy local Karnali fish with a Nepali set, a simple but tasty meal before continuing the ride.

After lunch, the journey continues toward Sargeghat, passing through Dhulachaur and Sallisalla and crossing to the other side of the Karnali River. By late afternoon you finally arrive at Sargeghat, a quiet riverside town surrounded by steep hills and the sound of flowing water.

Ride Duration: 5–6 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse or homestay
Max Altitude: 1,660m
06 Day

Ride from Sergeghat to Simikot (45 km | 2,910 m | 3-4 hours)

Along the way you cross several small rivers and ride on both sides of the Karnali River. Beautiful old villages such as Piusa, Ripa, Thali Raya, Chipra, and Yangchu appear along the route, settlements that have existed here for centuries.

The road becomes more demanding as you approach Simikot, the administrative hub of Humla. This small mountain town is also known for having one of the highest airports in Nepal.

Additional Informations

Why This Tour Is Different

This isn’t a sightseeing loop or a polished motorbike holiday. It’s a journey into one of Nepal’s last truly remote regions, where roads are rough, plans stay flexible, and experiences feel earned.

You don’t cross into Tibet, yet you still receive a powerful Mt Kailash darshan from Nepal, from a place few riders ever reach—Lapcha Syar in Humla. The ride takes you through living villages, where kids run out to watch the bikes pass, and through landscapes that change slowly and naturally.

There are no crowds, no rush, and no shortcuts. Just real riding, real people, and a rare view of a sacred mountain from the quiet side of the Himalaya.

This tour is different because it stays true to the land, to the journey, and to why we ride in the first place.

Accommodation

During the Mt. Kailash View Motorbike Tour, accommodation varies depending on the region:

  • Kathmandu to Surkhet: You’ll stay in comfortable tourist-standard hotels with modern amenities such as hot showers, private rooms, and internet access.
  • Samnighat to Simikot: Accommodation will be in basic guesthouses or local homestays, offering clean bedding, traditional Nepali meals, and warm hospitality.
  • Remote Areas (Lapcha Syar, Dukling, Hilji):
Since these regions lack permanent teahouses or lodges, camping is the primary option. We provide tented accommodation with sleeping gear and essential camping facilities. Our team ensures hygienic meals prepared by a dedicated cook using local organic ingredients, providing comfort and safety in these remote Himalayan areas.

Camping in these untouched regions offers an immersive experience, letting you connect deeply with nature and the sacred landscapes surrounding Mt. Kailash.
