After breakfast in Pokhara, we drive toward Galeshwor, a small riverside town that marks the official starting point of the Mohare Danda Community Trek. The drive itself is scenic, following the Kali Gandaki corridor and passing through fertile mid-hill landscapes.
As we approach Galeshwor and begin the trek, the surroundings slowly shift from roadside settlements to peaceful rural farmland. This area is known for community-based farming, and along the trail you’ll notice terraced fields growing oranges, lemons, corn, plums, and seasonal vegetables. These farms are maintained by local families and play an important role in sustaining village life in the region.
On clear days, this section of the trail also offers a rare and exciting chance to glimpse Mount Dhaulagiri (8,167 m)—the world’s seventh-highest mountain—rising dramatically above the hills in the distance. Seeing such a massive Himalayan peak from a quiet farming landscape is a reminder of how closely daily life and the mountains are connected here.
The walk to Banskharka is gentle and unhurried, making it an ideal first trekking day.
