Trip overview
Janga Bahadur Lama was born in Simikot, Humla, one of the most remote and beautiful regions of Nepal. In pursuit of higher education, he moved to Kathmandu, where he supported himself by working in a hotel while studying. Although this responsibility limited his ability to complete formal education, it offered him valuable life experience and practical skills that laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
After gaining over six years of experience in the hotel and travel industry, Janga co-founded Firante Treks in 2007 with a group of friends. The name “Firante,” meaning “wanderer,” reflects his passion for exploration and cultural connection.
In 2016, after a decade in the travel sector, Janga expanded his ventures into hospitality and food by establishing Humla Resort in Humla and Products Karnali Pvt. Ltd. His commitment to giving back to his community led him to establish a non-profit organization, the Bodhi Tree Foundation Humla, which works to support underprivileged communities in Humla and throughout Nepal.
Janga comes from a 17-generation lineage of Vajrayana Buddhist practitioners, with his family serving as Buddhist priests for centuries. He continues this sacred tradition under the guidance of his Guru. In addition to his deep Buddhist practice, he is well-versed in Tibetan yoga, meditation, and retreat practices, offering a rich spiritual perspective to his journey.
Traveling with Janga is not just an adventure—it’s a profound and transformative experience. His unique background, deep-rooted spirituality, and cultural wisdom allow travelers to discover the deeper meaning of their journey.
