Trip FAQs
1. What makes this 12-day Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar helicopter tour via Simikot so special?
This route is one of the most peaceful and efficient ways to reach the sacred Mt. Kailash and holy Lake Mansarovar. Starting from Kathmandu, you fly to Nepalgunj and then Simikot, followed by a short helicopter hop to Hilsa on the border—skipping long bumpy drives right from the start. The full 12 days allow gentle acclimatization, the complete Kailash Parikrama (Kora), serene time at Mansarovar, and a sense of deeper connection. Pilgrims often tell us it feels like the perfect mix of spiritual devotion and thoughtful adventure.
2. Is the helicopter tour via Simikot suitable for seniors, families, or first-timers?
Yes, very much so! This heli option via Simikot is a favorite among older pilgrims, families, and those doing the Yatra for the first time because it cuts down on early travel fatigue. The real challenge comes during the Parikrama trek (especially crossing Dolma La Pass at 5,630m), but we build in plenty of rest and acclimatization time. Guides, ponies, porters, and our support team are always there to help. If you have any health questions, just share—we tailor things to make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported.
3. Can you give an overview of the 12-day Kailash Mansarovar heli tour itinerary?
Of course! It starts with a warm welcome in Kathmandu, followed by flights to Nepalgunj and Simikot. Then comes the exciting helicopter ride to Hilsa and drive to Purang for initial acclimatization. Next, you reach the stunning Lake Mansarovar for prayers and reflection, move to Darchen (with an optional Asthapad visit), and begin the sacred Parikrama: trekking to Dirapuk for those first breathtaking views of Kailash, crossing the powerful Dolma La Pass to Zuthulpuk, and completing the circuit back to Darchen. The return follows the same scenic path via Hilsa–Simikot–Nepalgunj–Kathmandu, with buffer time built in for weather or rest. The pacing is designed to help your body adjust slowly while keeping the focus on the spiritual experience.
4. How challenging is the Kailash Parikrama trek in this 12-day helicopter package?
The Parikrama covers about 52 km over three days, with the toughest part being the ascent and crossing of Dolma La Pass (around 5–6 hours uphill). But you don’t carry heavy bags—ponies, yaks, and porters are available, and the group moves at a gentle pace with lots of breaks. Many pilgrims in their 60s and 70s complete it joyfully; it’s often more about inner strength and faith than physical speed. Our experienced team watches over altitude, health, and morale every step.
5. What permits and visas are required for the Kailash Mansarovar helicopter Yatra from Nepal?
You’ll need a passport (valid for at least 6 months), a Chinese Group Visa (we arrange it), and the Tibet Travel Permit, plus Alien Travel Permits for the Kailash and Mansarovar areas. No separate individual Chinese visa is needed for group tours. Send us your passport scan early (ideally 2–3 months ahead), and we take care of everything smoothly.
6. When is the best season for the Mt. Kailash via Simikot helicopter tour in 2026?
The prime window is May/June through September, depending on weather. June to August usually offers the clearest views, milder temperatures around the lake and mountain, and fewer rain risks. Popular dates book up quickly, especially for auspicious periods—so reserve 4–6 months in advance to secure your spot on this sacred journey.
7. What packing essentials do you recommend for the 12-day Kailash Mansarovar heli tour?
Keep it simple and layered: warm clothing (thermals, fleece, down jacket), sturdy trekking shoes, hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, personal medications, a lightweight daypack, and a reusable water bottle. We supply sleeping bags, oxygen support, and basic first aid. The most important things to pack? An open heart and positive energy—these mountains give back so much more than you bring!
8. Is travel insurance mandatory, and how do you handle altitude concerns?
We highly recommend (and often require) travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking, medical emergencies, and helicopter evacuation. Altitude sickness can happen, but our itinerary includes built-in rest days, hydration guidance, and meds like Diamox when appropriate. Guides monitor oxygen levels and symptoms closely—safety and well-being come first.
9. What is the approximate cost for the 12-day Mt. Kailash and Lake Mansarovar Heli Tour via Simikot?
Prices typically range from USD 3,500 to 5,000 per person (depending on group size, season, and exact inclusions like flights, helicopter, lodging, meals, permits, guides, and support). We offer clear breakdowns and sometimes group discounts. Drop us a message for the latest 2026 rates—we’re happy to customize and answer any budget questions!
