Trip overview
This tour is the shortest and the most direct approach to Mt. Kailash. It is one of the most popular tours to Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar starting from Kathmandu, which commences with an overland journey to Zhang-Mu (the Tibetan border town). The program covers a three days circumambulation tour around Mt. Kailash and a two days stay at the shore of Lake Manasarovar (Chiu Gumpa side). The other days we spend traveling to Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar and returning to Kathmandu. This Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar tour commences from Zhang-Mu and normally ends at Zhang-Mu. But alternatively, we can even end this tour in Lhasa or Khasgar.
Saga Dawa Festival
Saga Dawa Festival is observed as one of the most important festival in Buddhist society all over the world. This festival held each year on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar. This festival is celebrated in honor of Sakyamuni’s enlightenment. And this auspicious day coincide with three important events in Buddha’s life, Birth, Nirvana and death.

Kathmandu sightseeing
It is also the day when Tibet’s final visa is issued. To apply for final Tibetan visa approval from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, we’ll require your original passport and passport-size photo. Meanwhile, in the Kathmandu valley, we will visit a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Drive Kathmandu to Nyalam
Drive Kathmandu to Nyalam, overnight at Guest House. Today you cross Nepal, China border and drive around 6 hours.
Acclimatisation day
Today you take rest at the Nyalam to acclimate your body with altitude. walk up to Nyalam peak and comeback to hotel. evening walk around local market.
Drive to Saga
Today you start your day after breakfast, you will be gaining high by 800m. crossing Thongla pass you can see all the himalayan range of Nepal tibet border from here. will cross beautiful lake call Pigutso. saga is the town near the Brahmaputra river. overnight on Hotel
Drive to Mansarovar
Today you drive to holy lake Mansarovar. crossing beautiful tibet plateau with Brahmaputra river.
Rest day at Mansarovar Lake
Today you take rest at the holy lake to offer Puja and take a holy bath.
Drive to Yamaduwar and back to Darchen
Today you attend Saga Dawa festival people participating from all over the world at Darpoche (Yamaduwar). Drive back to Darchen.
Trek to Dirapuk
Today you will drive till Yamaduwar and start trek towards DiraPuk the north face of Kailash
Trek to Zuthulphuk
Trek start with early morning, crossing the Dolma La pass of 5630 and Gaurikunda spectacular view of Kailash Northface. long trek you reach Zuthulphuk late evening.
Trek to Darchen and drive to Saga
Today easy trek to near Darchen and we drive after lunch to Saga
Saga to Zangmu
Today back to same road to Zangmu via Nyalam. overnight at Zangmu
Cross border and Drive to Kathmandu
Today you start early morning crossing border and after immigration work you will drive back to Kathmandu via Tatopani.
Fly back home
End of the trip fly back home.
