Lower Mustang Bike Tour

With a Firante Bike Adventures sign, our man in Kathmandu will be waiting for you at the airport gate. We’ll then travel through a comfortable bus from Kathmandu Airport to Mugling, where we’ll check into our hotel. We’ll have some free time while our guide exchanges money for us, unless you prefer to do it yourself. Following that, we’ll meet for a quick briefing. Our first day of Mustang Nepal Motorcycle Tour, will end with a welcome dinner, providing you the taste of local delicacies.

It’s time to acquire our Royal Enfield motorcycles and familiarize ourselves with them after an early breakfast. We’ll spend some time getting used to the bikes and practicing riding on it. As a warm-up, we’ll drive to Bandipur, which is a small town in central Nepal’s Himalayas. The route to Bandipur is a winding road as well as very quiet regarding traffic.  We’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the gorgeous summits if the clouds are clear. We’ll take a stroll through the old village in the evening and spend the night in the Bandipur.

Today will be a day of windy roads and deep valleys. Unfortunately, there will also be heavy traffic because this route is used to transport all of Nepal’s imports from India. We’ll arrive in Sauraha and then take a journey to Chitwan National Park, where we’ll have a full day ahead of us.

Chitwan National Park was established in 1973 as Nepal’s first national park. It’s famous for its biodiversity, as well as for being home to Bengal tigers and rhinoceros. We’ll begin our day with an elephant ride to see the wild rhinos. We will also visit the elephant breeding station of the national park. We can also take a canoe ride to the crocodile banks, if you’re keen. After our dinner in the evening, we’ll see a short slide show about Nepal’s wildlife and enjoy the sunset over the river. A nightcap beside the campfire will help you relax.

We’ll travel up to the western side of the Annapurna Massif via a 200-kilometer ride on a new as well as little used mountain road. This path offers stunning views of some of the world’s most beautiful mountains. We’ll go on to Tansen from there. In the afternoon, we’ll eat Nepalese cuisines in the Naglo West beer garden’s historic atmosphere. We’ll be staying at Hotel Srinagar, which is located above Tansen and has a spectacular view of the 8000-meter Dhaulagiri Mountain.

Today we ride on the Siddhartha Highway, named after the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautam. It is a 130 kilometers journey of continuously winding and lonely mountain roadways. Our hotel will be near the lake side, making it very convenient to get to Phewa Lake in Pokhara.  We can spend our afternoon in Pokhara by relaxing at the lake or boating around Phewa Lake looking at the mesmerizing view of Annapurna Massif.  In addition to that, we can also take a short ride to a Tibetan refugee camp to visit Buddhist Monastery.

Our Road to Mustang tour departs from Pokhara and travels to Beni today. The road is not difficult to navigate. Even ordinary public buses can transport you to Beni at ease.   Depending on the weather, the section from Beni to Tatopani may become a little more adventurous. It’s not a problem as long as everything is dry. When it rains, the road becomes a mud mess. We can relax in the evening by taking a long soak in the hot springs. We’ll stay in a guest house for the night.

We’ll be riding through a landslide zone today. There are a few spots that could be difficult, particularly five kilometers before Ghasa. This path has it all including steep hills, large rocks and sand. If you like this, you’ll love everything else on this tour. We’ll be back on safe route just before Kobang. We’ll get our first look at Annapurna, one of the world’s most challenging Mountain. We’ll just ride between two big Mountains and cross a river on a large suspension bridge. We’ll have a magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains on several occasions and we’ll enjoy them.

Our first section of the trip from Tukuche to Jomsom should be reasonably easy, with no really steep or difficult parts. We’ll cross tiny streams and then reach Jomsom, the largest town in Mustang. We depart Jomsom and navigate our way through a network of canals. Our surroundings will become harsher and more unfriendly but the sights will just get better and breathtaking. The Kali Gandaki, one of Nepal’s four longest rivers, passes through the gorge and will follow us on our journey to Kagbeni.

Today we’ll take a ride from Kagbeni to Muktinath, where we’ll see the famous Vishnu temple. Throughout the village, we will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri and the other snow mountains. We’ll witness the famous continuously burning fire from natural gas as well as 108 water taps where pilgrims take a shower. It is undoubtedly a location which will be worth visiting.

We’ll return the same way today, with plenty of time to soak in the gorgeous scenery. A pleasant guesthouse will await us. It is a huge, well-run establishment with a new stone annex. What more could we want for than to relax, eat burgers, and gaze out at some of the world’s most spectacular mountains?

Today will demand the uttermost from us and our trusty Royal Enfield once more. We’ll leave the cool mountain wind behind and be engulfed by the sweltering heat of the forest. We will ride down one of those fun roads on the route to Begnas Lake that could have been built with motorbikes in mind. We’ll arrive in Begnas Lake in the afternoon, just in time for a sunset beverage on the lakeshore.

Out of our motorcycle journey through Nepal, today, it will be a short day. We’ll drive through a route with busy traffic for a short distance. Extra caution and defensive riding are required here until we reach Mugling, where we’ll take our van to Kathmandu to avoid the worst traffic.

We’ll begin the day with a tour of Kathmandu city bazaar, which features a unique mix of Asian marketplaces, charming temples, and narrow alleys.   A visit to Swayambhunath, the world-famous Monkey Temple perched on a hill overlooking the capital, will also be worthwhile.  Later I n the evening, we’ll gather in the resort’s garden for our departing meal. You will be able to enjoy the true flavors of Nepalese cuisines.
