Trip overview

Chandi Himal is located north of Changwatang, towards the western extremity of the Nepalese Himalayas. It is one of Nepal’s unclimbed peaks that has recently been accessible to expeditions. It is a climbing peak in Nepal’s Chandi mountain range, which is part of the Chandi Himal municipality of the Humla district. The mountain top is 6096 meters high and is located in latitude 30.3592 and longitude 81.9514. Mount Api (7132m), Mt Saipal (7031m), Dhaulagiri, Mt Chandi and other peaks can be seen from the summit of Chandi Himal Peak.

At higher elevations, the region’s vegetation includes Pine and Hemlock woods, White Fir, Juniper, Birch, and Rhododendron, scrub and alpine plant communities. The Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Himalayan Thar, Marten, Himalayan Mouse Hare (Pika), and over 118 species of birds, including the Impeyan Pheasant, Snow Cock, Blood Pheasant, and Red-billed Cough, can all be found in the park.

Climbing the Chandi Himal Peak is a 45-day difficult adventure excursion. The excursion begins in Kathmandu, where you will backpack and prepare for the journey. Your guide will provide you with all of the relevant trip information. The trail to the peak of Chandi Himal Peak runs through Simikot, Kharpunath, Thehe, Dojam and Thara Sangu and is 38 kilometers long, with a climbing route of 32.6 kilometers.

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft)

Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, we’ll have a short briefing about the expedition and preparations.

02 Day

Rest Day & Permit Preparation

Today is for rest and last-minute preparation. Our team will assist you in visiting the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation to complete the necessary permit procedures.

03 Day

Fly to Nepalgunj (150m / 492ft)

Take a scenic flight to Nepalgunj in the southwest of Nepal. It’s a bustling city close to the Indian border and the gateway to the far-western region.

Fly to Simikot (2,910m / 9,550ft)

Catch a morning flight to Simikot, the administrative center of Humla. Surrounded by hills and remote landscapes, this marks the true beginning of our adventure.

We begin our journey on foot, trekking through the breathtaking and untouched valleys of Humla. Over 7 days, we pass through traditional villages, ancient trails, and changing landscapes, slowly gaining altitude and acclimatizing.

Trek to Chandi ABC (5,365m / 17,603ft)

We move higher up to the Advanced Base Camp of Chandi Himal. This is a key acclimatization day with spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.

13 Day

Trek to Chandi High Camp (5,750m / 18,865ft)

A steady ascent to Chandi High Camp. The terrain becomes more rugged as we get closer to summit altitude. Final checks and preparations are made for summit push.

14 Day

Rest/Acclimatization Day at High Camp

We spend a full day resting and acclimatizing at high camp to give our bodies time to adjust and ensure the best chance of a successful and safe summit.

15 Day

Summit Chandi Himal (6,142m / 20,151ft) – Return to ABC

Summit Day! An early start leads us up the northeast ridge to the summit of Chandi Himal. From the top, take in 360° views of the Tibetan Plateau and Himalayan ranges. After celebration and photos, we descend back to High Camp, dismantle, and return to ABC.

Return to Base Camp

A relaxed trek back to Base Camp to rest and recover after the summit effort.

We make our push to the summit of Changwatang via the east ridge. After enjoying summit views, descend to High Camp for overnight.
